Sustainability Wine Dinner by Wildlife Retreat at Taronga
Two of Australia’s leading sommeliers join forces for a one-off, sustainable wine and dining event at Taronga Zoo. Guests will be treated to a sustainable dinner, topnotch vino and a stay at the zoo’s stunning, eco-friendly Wildlife Retreat at Taronga.
Trippas White Group sommelier Louella Mathews and acclaimed winemaker Nadja Wallington of Chalou are hosting the dinner, which takes place at retreat’s restaurant, Me-Gal. Enjoy a three-course menu that celebrates both local cuisine and environmental sustainability. Dishes include burrata topped with spring peas and preserved mushroom, delicate swordfish served atop fennel and gem lettuce, and a decadent coconut-and-chocolate dessert.
Every course will be matched with a glass of sustainably produced NSW wine, with Mathews and Wallington there to guide you through each pairing with fun and educational tasting notes. To top it all off, you’ll enjoy sweeping views of Sydney Harbour while you eat and drink.
The experience doesn’t end at dinner: you’ll also get to spend the night in one of the retreat’s luxurious rooms (you might even spot a koala outside your window). The stay includes a guided tour of the retreat’s private wildlife sanctuary, where you’ll meet echidnas, tammar wallabies and other adorable animals. Also included in this incredible package is a sunset conservation talk, an exclusive after-hours zoo experience, a surprise gift on arrival and a buffet breakfast, as well as parking and entry to Taronga Zoo for the entire stay.
